There is a great difference between giving up something and having it taken from you. Dag Heward-Mills says he has watched as people tried to preserve themselves and their families but ended up losing them. Jesus knew that the Pharisees would eventually kill Him and instead of waiting for that to happen, He gave up Himself to be crucified.
